Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Department: Environmental Health and Safety

Wage Category: Annual Salary with Benefits

Report to: CEO

Location: Scarborough, Ontario, Canada M1S 4G7

Job Type: Full-time / Permanent

Salary: $42,000 to $52,000 per year.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor waste handling and environmental compliance activities.
  • Track environmental and sustainability KPIs (waste generation, energy use, water use, etc.).
  • Maintain WHMIS program, including SDS database.
  • Conduct respirator fit testing and support PPE compliance.
  • Coordinate safety training, e.g., new hire orientation, WHMIS, forklift, TDG, spill response.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections in production, lab, and warehouse areas.
  • Coordinate inspection of facility and utilities, e.g., fire prevention systems, emergency
    exits/lighting, first-aid stations, emergency shower and eye wash stations, spill control
  • Support EHS hazard assessments, and maintain relevant standard procedures.
  • Support EHS risk mitigation initiatives, incident investigation and report, and implementation of improvement plans
  • Support the processing of WSIB claim and the arrangement of alternative job assignment.
  • Support fire drills, emergency response planning, and spill control preparedness.
  • Support EHS compliance documentation in general, and maintain inspection readiness.
  • Perform other EHS-related tasks, if assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Prior internship or entry-level experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace safety regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working on production floor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
